Buffoons, Allies, and Marverick at the Star

The Hot Air Buffoons, a comedy quartet, will take the stage at the Star Theatre’s Annual Evening of Barbershop benefit concert on Saturday. The Buffoons are William “Veal” Baughman, Harry Hafflet, Mark Lang and Randy “Beef” Baughman. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Star Theatre Box Office at 419-294-1411.
Barbershop Harmony will return to the Star Theatre in Upper Sandsuky this Saturday at 7:00 p.m. as the community theatre holds its 4th Annual Evening of Barbershop. This Annual concert is held to raise funds for the local theatre’s scholarship fund. This year’s line-up of quartets includes Maverick, The Hot Air Buffoons and The Allies. Each of these quartets competed last month in the annual Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Competition which only qualifies the top fifty quartets in the World.
The Hot Air Buffoons will appear at the Star for the first time. The HOT AIR BUFFOONS first weighed in back in 1996. They set out on a quest to sing well and entertain their audiences in a fashion they have never seen before. They soon surprised themselves and others by not only making people laugh but by progressing in the competition realm as well. They excelled in a competition that was MADE for them and took home gold medals and a pretty large trophy (which signifies 1st place) in the 2001 internationally renowned Buckeye Invitational Comedy Quartet Competition in Columbus, Ohio. They have continued in the competition realm and are the 2005 Johnny Appleseed District Champions. The Buffoons have also competed internationally and have been ranked in the top 50 quartets in the world for 8 years running. Two of those years being ranked as high as 16th. Despite their successes in the competition venue, this quartets true love is to entertain. The BUFFOONS have performed for a number of audiences and if you ask anyone that has seen them perform, they will confirm that these guys are never serious (nor do they want to be). If you haven't had the chance to hear their unique style of the HOT AIR BUFFOONS, they encourage you to lock yourself in your storm cellar now, because before long, they'll be everywhere and you'll find yourself sucked into their stupid humor and crazy antics. They just ask one thing, DON'T MAKE FUN OF THE FAT GUY!!!!!!!!!!
The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. featuring each quartet individually and concluding with a combine number. If you are a barbershop singer or have never heard barbershop, this show is sure to be an enjoyable evening.
Refreshments will be provided by Special Occasions Catering. Tickets are $15.00 each and can be reserved by calling the Star Theatre Box Office at 419-294-1411.
